ICE speaks at World Social Marketing Conference
Our social marketers have been invited to lead three high-profile sessions at the World Non-Profit and Social Marketing Conference in Dublin.
As leaders in best practice, four of our social marketers are leading sessions with this international audience around the use of innovative social marketing techniques to address key social challenges. The 2nd World Conference brings together public health professionals and health educators from across the globe to debate, discuss and present new thinking and evidence aimed at addressing complex issues such as obesity, alcohol misuse, crime and environmental awareness.
We have been selected help to lead the debates for our work in using social marketing techniques as a more effective alternative to traditional marcomms for engaging audiences and promoting positive behaviour change. The team will be conducting sessions around three key areas: smoking, alcohol misuse and health inequalities in young people.
The ICE team will also be demonstrating a range of new innovations including a mobile phone app which allows people to draft, record and update their own systematic social marketing plans. The app is based on the four-stage planning model STELa, developed by leading social marketing expert Professor Jeff French, and includes a comprehensive library of key analytical tools. www.stelamodel.com
Amanda Jackson, our Executive Director of Social Change, says, “Traditional advertising raises awareness about social issues, but social marketing is a powerful tool which, when used properly, can drive positive and sustained behaviour change on big social challenges. This conference is a fantastic opportunity both to showcase our abilities and to share and learn with some of the world’s leading experts spanning public health, academia and not-for-profit organisations.”
