#1YearOn

A year after ICE closed their office, it would be putting it lightly to say my transition into a new role and joining ICE Creates during a pandemic in August had its challenges. Integrating into a new company can be difficult under normal circumstances and doing this in a remote working format did feel daunting at times. However, the challenges of adapting to Covid-19 made the resilience of ICE family strikingly clear to me in two ways.

Firstly, Covid-19 has impacted every aspect of work activity, yet this had only spurred the ICE Team to be ever more creative and innovative. Research projects, events, meetings, live sessions and training programmes were moved to be remote or online with such a collaborative team effort that quality of our work and deliveries did not suffer. Seeing my colleagues continually not only rise to challenges, but turn them into positives, was really encouraging.

Secondly, It has been really reassuring for me that with each change and challenge posed by Covid-19, staff wellbeing has not only been considered, but was made paramount in all decisions and communications by senior ICE team members. For a person like myself, living alone during strictest social distancing measures in living memory, consistently seeing senior ICE team invest in their colleague’s health and wellbeing really makes you feel valued at the times that you need it most. Thanks to ongoing support and leadership demonstrated by my colleagues, six months on from joining ICE I feel integrated into my team, I love the work I do and I am now in a position to be able to support my team mates, as they have done for me.

My time at ICE so far has been a massively rewarding learning curve, working with experts in research, marketing and operational development. Seeing ICE pioneer wellbeing and resilience in the current climate, as well as taking a huge massive shock to the usual working processes into an opportunity for growth and development makes me proud to be part of the ICE family.

It’s exhilarating seeing ICE and our team members adapt so intuitively to a vastly different and evolving social landscape.  It’s a privilege be part of a team who continue to provide industry leading services and insight that “Make Better Happen” for organisations and the public community across the country.

My hope for the future is that ICE will continue to collaborate, share and learn so we can build on the positives that have come out of the new ways of working through Covid-19 and beyond!
