MECC & Health Coaching Training

Making Every Contact Count, or MECC as it is known, utilises the millions of day-to-day interactions that organisations and people have with others to bring about positive behaviour change.

Almost every day of our working or personal lives we have the opportunity to speak with people. Our conversations may vary according to who we speak with, but the truth is what we say and how we say it can have a profound effect on the people that we speak with.

As communication specialists, we believe that it is important to make every contact with a person count. Why? Because every contact is the opportunity for something positive to happen. Sometimes it might set a seed of change growing and other times it might be the catalyst for an immediate positive change.

To support people to have positive and meaningful conversations that can motivate and drive change we offer two programmes.

MECC – Making Every Contact Count

Making Every Contact Count or MECC is focused on helping people to consider and make positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

A MECC based conversation takes just a few minutes and is a part of a persons working day. It should not add to a persons workload but can be a conversation that encourages a person to think about small changes they could make.

Our programme

Evidence suggests that the broad adoption of the approach by people and organisations across health and care could potentially have a significant impact on the health of our population.

Our programme helps build confidence and capability in how to have MECC based conversations. Targeted to the specific roles of specialist groups, e.g. midwifery staff, we explore the interactions they have and how they can use communication  skills to start conversations that could foster positive change. We explore how to avoid ‘telling and fixing’ approaches, in favour of adopting health coaching and person centred ways of working. And how they can truly make every contact count.

Our programmes are tailored to the needs of our clients and half or full day sessions.
