Stop Smoking

Through our services we continue to achieve national recognition for the high levels of quit rates and quality of CO testing achieved across all populations.

Every year over 77,000 deaths are attributed to smoking and nearly 500,000 hospital visits are attributable to smoking with 11% of pregnant women smoking at the time of delivery [1]. Smoking prevalence in Great Britain ranges from 13.7% to 17.3% for the adult population but was substantially higher in lower socio-economic groups (for example, up to 35% in people living in social housing smoked) [2].

Through our support services at ICE Creates we continue to achieve national recognition for the high levels of quit rates and quality of CO testing achieved across all populations.

In 2019 our average quit rate at 4 weeks for adults is 72% with an average 86% CO verification. For pregnant mothers it is even higher at 85% quit rate at 4 weeks. In the last two years through our Healthy Lifestyles Gloucestershire service we helped over 1,500 people quit smoking.

Cut the habit

Using insight to inform our approach we know how to support the most vulnerable and those with the highest inequalities to become smoke free in an atmosphere of support, acceptance and compassion whilst fostering motivation for long term success.

Part of the key to our success lies in the integration of support with experience and, where possible, along multiple pathways addressing the concerns of the individual using Motivational Interviewing and Health Coaching to underpin our approach.
