In 2023 alone, we directly supported more than 100,000 people and influenced over one million lives through partnerships rooted in empathy, behavioural insight and collaborative design. From the beginning, our mission has been to ignite power and purpose—to unlock possibility for individuals, organisations and communities.

How ICE Human-Centred Design Unlocks Transformation

For almost 25 years, ICE has helped leaders, teams and systems understand what truly drives behaviour. Because of this, we’ve seen meaningful shifts unfold—whether in neighbourhoods, organisations or executive teams. Our work is grounded in co-creation and co-production, enabling people to shape the solutions they need.

We partner with CEOs and leaders across sectors who are embracing servant leadership and choosing to transform their organisations with courage, clarity and compassion.

Human-Centred Design in Action Across the UK

In 2023, ICE human-centred design helped Integrated Care Boards such as Black Country ICB tackle complex challenges including system integration, recruitment, retention and neighbourhood working. Meanwhile, our collaboration with the Office for Nuclear Regulation enabled their executive team to reimagine future ways of working and reinforce their mission to protect society through safe nuclear operations.

We also supported two of England’s largest acute trusts, including NUH, alongside multiple NHS organisations. Together, we explored structures, leadership behaviours and hierarchy—ensuring each organisation could unlock its potential and strengthen its role within integrated care.

Co-Creation: Getting to the Root of Organisational Challenges

Our Head of Organisational Development, Abi Manifold, joined ICE in 2023, bringing 25 years of leadership and people development expertise. For Abi, what sets ICE apart is the depth of the work.

Through human-centred co-creation, we get right to the root of what’s happening for people and systems. This blend of behavioural insight, organisational psychology and creativity leads to solutions that stick.

Visionary Programmes Already Shaping 2024

Since the start of 2024, we have been leading a vanguard programme across the South West of England, using ICE human-centred design to accelerate the effectiveness of digitally enabled neighbourhood teams for NHS South West.

We have also been:

• supporting social care partners in Rochdale to embed co-production as everyday culture

• working with NHS Devon to analyse Digital Social Care experiences

• partnering with NHS South CSU to examine COVID vaccine uptake across the nation

These programmes demonstrate the breadth of ICE’s impact and the strength of collaboration across systems.
