For a friendly chat about how ICE can help you, your organisation or community there are numerous ways to get in touch.
I had my interview to be a Digital Marketing Apprentice in early May. I remember being really nervous – it was the first job interview I’d ever had so I didn’t know what to expect. Pam and Mandy were really nice though, and I knew straight away ICE was the kind of company I wanted to start my career at. Coming straight from college, I thought I’d find it difficult adjusting to a brand new work environment, but my first two weeks have been so amazing, and I feel like I’ve already settled in well!
How did I spend my first two weeks?
Although we are currently doing hybrid working – splitting time between the office and home working – I was placed in the Wirral office for the first two weeks. This was great for me, as it allowed me to adjust better to working in an office, and it also helped me to get my head around my job role better, as there was always someone from the marketing team in with me to help if needed.
There were only a few people in the office at a time, but I got to meet the whole team in introduction meetings on Microsoft Teams. Everyone I spoke to was so welcoming and kind – they made me feel like I had been there forever! That’s one of my favourite things about ICE, it feels like one big family – there is always someone I can go to if I don’t know what I’m doing, and they’ll always be happy to help. I couldn’t have had a more welcoming start to my apprenticeship.
When I first met everyone, I was shocked at the size of the team. There are so many departments; from finance to marketing, digital to creative – there’s an expert in every field imaginable. At first, I thought it was daunting to join such a big team, but now I think it’s great – everyone just works together so well.
Within my first two weeks, I have already learned so many new things. As a digital marketer, one of the big things I have to do is producing content. I got immediately stuck into this – something that made my first two weeks even more exciting. I have produced Sunday mailers for our Best-You service and produced organic content for our Healthy Lifestyles social media channels, specifically focussing on awareness days and how we can align content around key dates for our target audiences across the country.
I have also produced content, images and messages for our This Mum Can campaign– it was my responsibility to research and come up with engaging ideas for TikTok. This was especially exciting as I never thought that something like TikTok – an app I use all the time at home – would become a part of my work! It was such a fun experience to help build the campaign and I never thought I’d be doing something so important within my first couple of weeks!
At ICE, every day is different. There are so many different things that make up the company – from our work with HLS on things like smoking cessation and weight loss, to our Natural Leaders programme. With ICE, there is just so much variety and every day is so exciting because I never know what I am going to be working on – there is always something new.
I couldn’t be more excited for my future at ICE, and I’m so grateful to have been given this opportunity! I’m sure that I will grow and learn more about myself every day, and that ICE will support me with the opportunities I need to flourish in my role.
