Putting on Your Own Oxygen Mask First

 

This leadership tip is focused on Resilience and the need to take care of yourself and your own resilience in order to be at your best, and to have capacity both emotionally and practically to support others in your team and your wider interactions.

 

The foundation of Compassionate Leadership is the ability and practice of being compassionate with ourselves first.

 

At times like this when we are all busy, here are some quick Resilience check-ins to try as a daily reminder.

 

Resilience Check-ins

 

Leading yourself “Mindset Rest”

  • Stay flexible by adopting a growth mindset and see challenges as an opportunity for growth.
  • Manage your mind by taking regular breaks to achieve mental clarity and allow the brain to “reset”. When we are in a calm and clear state, only then can we make better decisions.

 

Your Self-Care Toolkit

  • Giving Yourself Permission To Pause. Pausing is a powerful tool to manage stress as it allows us to practice being in the present. The more present we are, the more focused we become.
  • Refuel To Accelerate Performance. Self-care has been found to increase empathy, strengthen your immunity and reduce anxiety levels. When we look after ourselves, we are better equipped to take care of others.

 

Nurturing Meaningful Relationships

  • Create Meaningful Connections that build trust and increase engagement.
  • Set Clear Boundaries - by having open conversations that encourage people to do their best work.

  • How are you caring for yourself?

 

  • How will you cultivate your resilience?
